We just replaced our table with the glass top but it was never a prbloem and I have a 2 1/2 yr old that would climb on top of it. The only thing I didn't like was that it's not very running into friendly and theres always fingerprints). But totally safe. But After having the glass one for 3 years I love my new wooden one.. oh yeah and only do you have to clean the top surface but with a 2 yr old you will be cleaning underneath also trust me.
